EYOTO™ Director Dean Butler receives the 2019 P&G McElroy Award
EYOTO™, the high-tech developer and manufacturer of ophthalmic measurement solutions, is proud to announce that Director Dean Butler has been awarded the prestigious Procter & Gamble McElroy Award for 2019.
The McElroy Award is named after Neil McElroy, legendary President of P&G and considered by many to be the father of modern brand management. The award panel described Dean as a visionary leader and recognised the pioneering changes he brought to the US retail eyewear market. The panel said that he took “…an industry mired in dusty backrooms to glossy, upmarket locations front and centre in malls and highstreets across America”.
Dean Butler is most recognised as the founder of LensCrafters in the USA in 1983, followed by Vision Express in Europe in 1998. Dean’s early career was with Procter & Gamble in various marketing and advertising roles, during which he worked on the Ivory, Folger and Cheer brands. Dean has been on the board of EYOTO™ since 2015 and, reflecting on his decision to join, said “It was a new opportunity just too exciting to miss. The industry had been crying out for a new approach to technology, and in EYOTO™ there was a unique team that I believed would deliver something revolutionary…and they have!”
Commenting on the Award, EYOTO™ CEO Carl D Francis said, “Dean Butler created the global optical retail industry as we know it today, and we are deeply honoured that he has chosen to sit on our board of directors for the past 4 years. He sees the changes and trends in our industry like no one else and has been an essential part of our journey to commercialize our technology. Our product range takes a unique and fresh approach to the field of optometric instrumentation, and Dean saw that in our earliest days. We are proud to have his support.”
